Gil is a poopy head

So Gil has been asking me to play soccer with his gang for weeks. It is hard for me because it is at 3pm on Friday, and if I don't go away for the weekend, I get stranded alone in the dorms for 2.5 days and it's boring and lonely. And if I'm here Friday at 3pm, I'm here for the weekend - the buses stop running. But, I do really want to play soccer, so this weekend I specifically didn't make plans to go away so that I could go play with him. He told me the game was at 3pm. I don't know where the field is, and I don't know any of the people playing, (including him, since I only know him online) and so he said he'd pick me up from the central bus station and we'd go there. I assumed I would get there at 2:45, but he said, no, actually, arrive "somewhat after 3:20." I was like, uh, ok. He calls at 12 to make sure I'm coming. I say yes. Then he calls again five minutes later and I ignore him. So I get up, shower, put on soccer clothes, braid my hair, get my water bottle, I'm ready to go. Then at 2:30 he signs on to ask me if I am sure I can make it by 3:20. I say it depends on the buses, but I certainly hope so. Given my instructions were "sometime after 3:20" I'm not all that concerned. I'm on my way out the door at 2:50, when he calls. I'm irritated, because he is being so obsessive. I answer, and he says, actually, he's worried he'll be late if he picks me up, because I'm not going to get there by 3:20, so he's just going to go straight there and I can find my way on my own. I tell him I think I can get there at 3:20, and I don't have any idea where the place is. He's like, well, it's easy to find, and he doesn't want everyone to have to wait for him. I'm slightly confused.

1. Israelis have never started anything on time in their lives.
2. If the game starts at 3, we're hardly going to be on time anyway.
3. Why would everyone wait for him? Does he own the only soccer ball in the country or something?
4. He told me to get there some time after 3:20!!!

I sullenly agreed, but then decided, forget it. I'll find someone else to play soccer with. I don't want to wander the city looking for some soccer field, when I can't even identify any of the players. What is his problem?
